Aspirin Foundation Of America Reminds
Consumers Of Health Benefits Of Aspirin
Therapy In Combating Heart Disease
And Stroke
February 12, 2001
An FDA advisory panel has found that since neither Celebrex nor Vioxx protect against heart
disease as aspirin does, it will recommend that FDA require both drugs to carry such a
warning on their labels.
The Aspirin Foundation today echoed that finding by the FDA advisory panel, issuing a
reminder that aspirin therapy is important in the prevention of heart disease and stroke and is
the only NSAID with such proven benefits.
While aspirin is safe and effective for most people, it is important that consumers follow
directions on the label and the advice of their doctors.
