For Immediate Release
Aspirin Foundation Launches Web Site
August 4, 1998
Dear Journalist:
The Aspirin Foundation of America is pleased to announce the creation of our new web site
www.aspirin.org and the launch of our new toll free aspirin hotline 1-800-432-3247
Please contact us with any questions you may have on aspirin.
Since 1981, the Aspirin Foundation of America has been committed to collecting and
disseminating accurate and objective information on aspirin to consumers, medical
professionals and members of the media. It is our hope that the web site and the hotline will
make it easier for you to reach us.
Aspirin is one of the world's most studied, safest and least expensive pain relievers, with
over 100 years of proven and effective treatment of a variety of health problems. Almost
every day there is a new study that highlights the role of aspirin in the treatment of disease.
In the upcoming months we are expecting major decisions by the Food and Drug
Administration on aspirin-related issues, including a decision on the proposed alcohol
warning label rule for all analgesics, so please keep the enclosed Rolodex card as a handy
reference for the breaking news. The aspirin web page will be updated with information on
this and other relevant issues.
Our web site is designed to be factual and straightforward -- with few bells and whistles. You
will find updates (statements, analyses, studies) in our news section. If you are looking for
specific uses of aspirin in the treatment of ailments, you will find the information that you
need in our Consumer section. Medical professionals and members of the media will be able
to find additional information in our Professional section.
In those deadline situations where you need to find an expert source for an article or even if
you have a simple question about aspirin, do not hesitate to call our hotline at
1-800-432-3247.
We welcome any suggestions that you might have about improving our web site and look
forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Thomas E. Bryant, M.D., J.D. President
